Advocacy Lead - PD

Objective:

  • Advocate to local, state, and federal politicians in accordance with the club’s advocacy strategy

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the Facilities Funding process
  • Develop and understand the club’s advocacy strategy
  • Initiate and develop relationships with relevant stakeholders that the club is advocating to (including attending meetings)
  • Develop collateral to aid advocacy such as posters, letters, etc
  • Coordinate communications to the club about the club’s advocacy efforts
  • Monitor/follow Facebook pages of politicians to stay abreast of any developments that may influence the club
  • Ability to see things from the perspective of other stakeholders
  • Writing and communication skills
  • Ability to stay level-headed and in control of emotions so that communications to external stakeholders are well thought out
  • Knowledge of key stakeholders including increasing awareness of their agendas, partnerships, and strategies.
  • Understand processes for the provision of new facilities or major facility upgrades
  • Understand how politics influences government decisions around facility provision and other resourcing

This role has the following child safety and wellbeing requirements:

The person in this role must:

  • undergo a child safety screening and referee checking process before commencing in their role
  • undergo a short induction on the club’s child safety practices
  • have the skills to be respectful to children and comply with the club’s child safety practices
  • have a basic awareness of the diverse needs of children.

This role does not have any specific responsibilities or duties involving direct contact with children.

This role may have indirect contact with children.
